It is impossible to do justice to Gary’s ability to communicate and relate to young people with natural ease and a talent to teach and inspire. Both my daughters started learning Dance with Gary in Year 7 and 9 respectively and have not stopped dancing since! Gary encouraged them to become involved in all the school productions and I know these were the highlights of the year.

He introduced 6th Form Cabarets to the school allowing each girl to have her to moment to shine. Kind and always supportive, Gary gave my daughters the confidence to continue with Dance and Drama at university. It is a testament to his teaching that former pupils want to keep in touch with him and organise ‘reunion’ Dance classes whenever they can!

As a parent, I would simply say that Gary helped my daughters get through GCSEs and A Levels at a time when there are many pressures on students. I cannot begin to thank him enough.

When I first decided to apply to drama school I had no idea what I was getting in for or where to even begin preparations. Gary was the first person that I sought advice from, and even after our first conversation I felt more and more that getting in could be realistic and not something that was unattainable. He talked me practically through what the process was and had insight into whether it was Musical Theatre or straight Acting that I would be best suited for.

I felt like I always had someone I could ask advice from, and the confidence that gave me was invaluable. He always made himself available if I needed help on the pieces I was working on. If I hadn’t had that kind of constant support and encouragement I wouldn’t have been as confident going into my auditions and I would have felt a bit lost in the whole process.

The process is a tough one, and so it is essential to have someone, or a group of people, to guide and shape the work you will present to these schools. Having just finished a Foundation and about to embark on a Three Year, I am incredibly grateful for the early support and advice I was given by Gary, my experience would not have been as positive without it
